A big tough Peak District road ride, with hills of course.

It started with a Facebook message. So many rides do these days. This one started “Going to the peaks on Saturday the 19th March….” and concluded with “…thinking 80/100 miles with lots of hills”. Working in Scotland; riding in the North Pennines – Hills #59 & 62

Traveling down from Edinburgh many people would take a well advised break during the trip. It is 6 hours of driving after all, so stopping at Leeming Bar services for a Big Mac and fries is popular. The hardest road climb in England? #55 Rosedale Chimney

It’s not the longest climb, it’s not the climb boasting the greatest elevation gain either and it’s also not the climb at the highest altitude but. I’m tempted just to leave it at that; just a lingering ‘but’. If Rosedale Chimney isn’t the steepest climb in the UK then it’s pretty well close to it!
